Speaker Recognition Biometric Readers
Technology March 25th. 2009, 7:56pmSpeaker recognition biometric readers are used to recognize a certain speaker’s voice. Speaker recognition and speech recognition are not to be confused with one another. Speaker recognition relies on the physical structure of an individual’s vocal tract and their personality. Speech recognition simply recognizes certain words. Speaker recognition can be used, as a means of identifying and individual person while speech recognition cannot. There are two major flaws in speaker recognition technology. The first is that it is dependant on a scripted text. The second major flaw is that a recording of the voice can fool the biometric readers. Research is currently being done to strengthen these two areas of the technology.
