I have been trying to remember when I first started collecting autographs as a child. I guess I would have been about seven years old and a friend introduced me to the idea. I persuaded my Mom to get me a little note book with blank colored pages in it and I covered the outside with some attractive paper.

All I did was to go around all my school friends and ask them for their autographs. I guess at that age they were not even proper signatures but it didn’t matter and it made me happy. I may still have that book in my junk room amongst all my other memorabilia but I don’t think any of them ever became famous.
