I have a really large lounge in my house, and I found that no matter how high I turned up the central heating the room was always chilly, especially in the middle of winter time. After taking the advice of a friend, I decided to install a large direct vent gas stove into the traditional fireplace that was already there, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best decisions I have ever made, because the lounge is now so warm that almost every single family member spends most of their time in there in the winter time. The good thing about a direct vent stove is that it gives off a real lot of heat, and it is also very economical to run because most of the heat comes out into the room rather than going up the chimney as it does with a traditional fireplace.
